Why Natural Dog Food Recipes?

We all want to make sure to give our dogs the very best foods that are available to us to ensure a long, healthy life for them. Natural dog food recipes are one option to enable us to feed our dogs some of the healthiest foods that we can without having to spend hours evaluating dog food labels and hoping that the ingredients that were used are the quality that we would want to feed our little four legged family member. We want to be the best caretakers we can be, since our dogs count on us for our support and guidance.

When a dog needs food, it has few options. Since he or she is not allowed to the cupboards or refrigerator to find the food that they need, we have to give them the best foods that we can muster. We can search high and low for the foods that will foster health and longevity with our dogs, or we can make some of them ourselves with natural dog food recipes and supplement their diet with the foods that they crave to keep them active and happy.

There is no better day than today to start feeding your dog the way that they were meant to eat. Animals have needs that the simple filler on the bottom shelf of the supermarket shelf cannot supply. If you want your pet to thank you for the food that you put in its plate, and if you want them to enjoy a long life and better digestive health, it may be time to look into natural dog food recipes to help them find that balance within themselves that they can enjoy every day. Let’s face it; a dog can’t control their diet, so it is up to you to supply them with the fuels that fire up a happy and youthful pet.

Why Choose a Natural Dog Collar?

Have you ever had to endure the feel of nylon webbing? How about the feel of nylon webbing around your neck? I am sure that the answer is no, but you may have just pictured what it might feel like. Surely comfort would not be the first word that would come to mind to describe how it may feel. Imagine how your dog feels, though. A dog has to wear that abrasive collar around their neck all day and night without a break. Can you imagine what an improvement a natural dog collar would be?

Dog collars are available in so many different materials now, there’s leather, and cotton, and hemp to start with. These natural materials translate into a far superior product where comfort is concerned for your pet’s daily being. Surely you can imagine that a breathable, natural dog collar would provide a better fit and a much better sense of comfort. Animals respond to their environment and their ability to cope with the stresses in their environment, and discomfort becomes apparent in a dog’s demeanor and behavior, discomfort manifests itself in your pet’s ultimate obedience.

Of course, a natural dog collar is not a solution to all of your dog’s issues with listening and obeying your commands, or following the rules that you set forth for him, but when you give your pet a more comfortable collar you are allowing him to concentrate more on the goings on around him and your communications with him as he is not concerned with the feeling of the abrasive nylon monstrosity around his neck. If you think that this is too much credit given to the collar of an animal, then try to carry on a conversation while someone is scratching at your arm or pulling at your sleeve and see how your environment upsets your ability to concentrate – then consider browsing for a new collar.

Natural Dog Biscuits Can Repel Fleas

Have you ever thought about making natural dog biscuits for your canine companion? What if you could not only make these biscuits but they would help to keep the fleas away from your dog? Wouldn’t that make it an even more of a worthwhile project? Well, with the proper recipe and a little time, that can easily be done. The ingredients are simple and can be found on your own kitchen or picked up at your local supermarket. You will require whole wheat flour, wheat germ, yeast, salt, garlic, olive oil and some chicken stock. Some people prefer to use beef stock or turkey stock to give the biscuits different flavors. Whichever one is used it is important to make sure it is low in salt content.

Once you have all the ingredients you mix them in a large bowl. You will want it to be sticky but make sure it is not too wet or it will not work. After rolling the dough into a ball, throw flour around the surface you are working on and then use a rolling pin to flatten the dough. At this point you will need something to cut the dough with. There are many places you can buy cookie cutters so they are in bone shapes but honestly your natural dog biscuits can be in any shape. Your dog will not care. One you have them cut they are then baked for twenty to thirty minutes until they are browned. This should make you enough biscuits for the week depending on the size of the cutters you chose.

Not only will your dog enjoy these bisects but they will be healthier for them than most of the ones you buy for them. But, there is a little perk if you use this recipe for you natural dog biscuits. Studies have shown that the combination of brewer’s yeast and garlic will keep fleas away from your dog. The brewer’s yeast take s a little time for your dog to get used to but once they have you can also put it in their other foods to help keep the fleas away.

Some Tips On How To Make Your Own Dog Food

Commercial dog food used to be a good option for dog-owners who want to have an easy way of feeding their pets – but does efficiency count over quality? It was found out that feeding your dogs with commercial foods that are taken off supermarket racks can cause liver and other health problems for your dog. It would be better then if you make your own dog food, to be sure that your dog is getting all the nutrients he needs, minus the danger.

When you decide to make your own dog food, the veterinarian can be your best ally in drawing up a good diet plan for your dog, so consulting one should be the initial step. Knowing your dog’s health is crucial in planning out his diet, since his meal must contain the right ingredients at the proper doses.

Recipes for home made dog food that contain the right ingredients can be a big leap for your dog, so doing the big switch should be done gradually to prevent upsetting your dog’s system which could lead to diarrhea, vomiting and gastric problems. Mix a portion of your home-made dog food with the commercial grub and eventually increase the proportions until you get your dog used to eating meals from your own recipes for healthy dog food.

Your dog’s diet should basically include all his dietary needs. Make sure that his favorite home cooked dog food recipes are fifty-percent protein-rich ingredients, thirty-percent carbohydrates and twenty-percent fats. Combine meats with vegetables like carrots, and carbohydrate-rich brown rice.

Variety is a great technique when you make your own dog food. Plan out different recipes for healthy dog food that your dog can look forward to. Aside from beef, your dogs will be salivating over turkey, chicken, goat and buffalo meat combined with equally delectable vegetables like beets, broccoli and pumpkin – to name a few.

Don’t just feed your dog anything. There are some foods that may taste heavenly to humans but are very dangerous for our furry friends. Chocolates are yummy treats, especially for kids, but never allow these kids to pop a piece into Fido’s mouth, as the ingredients in chocolates can be very toxic to dogs. Avoid putting onions in your home cooked dog food. Recipes that are dog-friendly should be clear of raisins, raw garlic, peas and bell peppers which can do more harm that good.

It’s better to go natural with your recipes for healthy dog food than give your dog too much of those baked treats. Likewise, microwaving your dog’s meal can be very hazardous to their health. Vitamins and minerals that should be going into your dog’s system are killed by the radiation – worse, you may be risking cancer in your dog due to the cancerous free radicals that are an effect of exposure to radiation.

Keep in mind that the fresher and organic your recipes for home made dog food, the better. Since fresher means easy spoilage, don’t make more than what your dog can consume in three days. Refrigerate the remaining food in a well-sealed container labeled with your dog’s name. You wouldn’t want anyone to mistake dog food for human food, would you?

With these tips to make your own dog food, providing your dog with a healthier alternative to the commercial dog food sold in the market is easy. You don’t have to worry about what your furry little darling is taking in since you’re the one who is in charge of his food.
